1. DAFT PUNK – GET LUCKY (Feat. Pharell Williams)
In the lead-up to the french duo’s highly anticipated fourth album ‘Random Access Memories ‘, Daft Punk yesterday released their new single ‘ Get Lucky ‘, featuring the smooth vocals of Pharrell Williams . In a suprise move, the new album will be globally launched in the rural Australian town of Wee Waa during the 79th Annual Wee Waa Show on May 17.
‘Get Lucky’ is a modern take on 70′s disco, featuring funky guitar licks, melody swings, huge vocal hooks and bass lines that make you want to get down and dirty… This track is nothing short of sexy. Daft Punk’s Random Access Memories is available for pre-order now on the iTunes Music Store and is scheduled for release on 20 May 2013.
2. DISCLOSURE - You & Me ft. Eliza Doolittle
UK brothers ‘ Disclosure ‘ have today released their new jaggered electro track which features vocals from Eliza Doolittle . The new single comes to us in the leadup to their debut album ‘Settle’ ( PMR/Interscope ) which also includes their popular releases ‘ Latch ‘ and ‘ White Noise ‘. The album is out June 3rd and can be pre-orded through their website: www.disclosureofficial.com
3. MOBY – Why Does My Heart Feel So Bad (BENSON Club Version)
The Ripe Guest Mix alumni, BENSON has this week launched his club re-work of Moby favourite Why Does My Heart Feel So Bad ‘ . What I really love about this remix is how he has cleverly maintained and enhanced the ‘rises and falls’ of the original to create a really nicely flowing dance remix. It’s uplifting and effortlessly cool. Nice vocal sampling and dark reverberated effects on the piano help to create clean drops and momentum throughout.
Very kindly, the Melbourne DJ has uploaded it to his Soundcloud profile for free download … Gotta love that.
4. SCHEINIZZL – One More
I recently discovered Austrian producer
Scheinizzl
and posted
two of his new tracks on The Ripe
.
It’s fair to say that since then, his single ‘
One More
‘ has enormously grown on me. It just reminds me of the melodic, flavoursome house a younger, pimplier version of myself used to listen to. For more info on him and some other tracks –

or stream him in this weeks playlist over on the right ->
5. THE KNOCKS – Modern Hearts ft. St. Lucia
‘ Modern Hearts’ (also featured in this weeks Ripe Playlist) is the new colab from The Knocks and South African raised/New York based St Lucia. I’m pretty partial to anything that comes out of the St Lucia camp, mainly because he just seems to understand catchy, well structured ‘pop-music’. In interviews I’ve done with him, he speaks about his guilty passion for melodic hooks and cheesy synths and you get the feeling that he is a real genius of his craft. On the hand, I haven’t really been exposed to too much music from The Knocks. It’s kind of a shame, because tracks like ‘ The Feeling ‘ seem to have a really cool ‘daft-punk’ kind of disco about them – however, they tend to sit further toward the commercial side of the fence.
You can download this killer dance track along with the extended club edit through iTunes now.
