In a move to delight Ripe frequenters, Melbourne producers Tomderson and Victory Team (half of Indian Summer DJs ) have uploaded their remix of Snakadaktal single and Hottest 100 placer, ‘Dance Bear’, for free download.
The pair takes the haunting verse vocal of the Melbourne indie pop group’s song, and place it over a restrained club beat. The original’s quiet/loud structure is stretched out into a spacious ebb and flow, as the full-band dynamic surrenders to its synthesized influences. It’s a lot less radio-friendly-pop, and a lot more hands-in-the-air-dancefloor.
The remix demonstrates the versatility of Tomderson and Victory Team—there are touches of moombahton, house and minimal techno, and a teasing half-time breakdown just before the final drop. To be honest, I prefer it to the original—and isn’t that all you can ask for? Tomderson says on Soundcloud that this remix is about eight months old, so let’s hope there’s a few more hard drive clear-outs to look forward to.
