Operatives Party @ Brown Alley – August 24

The Operatives  have hosted some quality parties featuring some of the biggest names in the electronic music scene. Acts like Major Lazer , Gold Panda Fantastic Mr.Fox, Lapalux   and  Shlohmo   have previously featured. Last Saturday, the group held their biggest party to date, bringing together the likes of Sydney producer  Paces , Kaytranada (Canada),  Ryan Hemsworth (USA) as well as hip hop/trap producers  Djemba Djemba  and  Mr.Carmack , for one exceptional party at  Brown Alley .

Arriving during Paces set, Brown Alley was already pumping. Many danced to Paces trip-hop percussion beats as the rest buzzed around the bar waiting in anticipation for Ryan Hemsworth.

There was an energised atmosphere radiating at Brown Alley as heads slowly turned towards Hemsworth, beginning his set with a series of remixes and originals. His incredible performance had the crow constantly moving, yet he was able to slowly bring down the tempo to steadily build before dropping more insane beats. At one stage the people around me were literally jumping on top of one another.

Playing a mesmerising hour set it was time for Hemsworth to make way for Kaytranada. By now, as the drinks flowed and everyone was overwhelmed by Hmesworth set, the atmosphere was ecstatic. Kaytranada took no time to follow. Having a 2 hour allocated, Kaytranada blessed everyones ears by sampling various hip/hop artists, drum and bass, mixing his various remixes such as his  Missy Ellitot ‘Sock It To Me’  as well as a few originals such as ‘ Jupiuter ‘.  Moving between the dance floor, the bar and the upstairs lounge,  It was evident that everyone was completely swept by Kaytranadas set.

As it hit 3am Kaytranadas set drew to a close, Djemba Djemba   teamed up with Mr.Carmack and took over with their heavy bass driven trip-hop/ trap. Brown Alley was nearing full capacity when Kaytranada finished up and Djemba Djemba and Mr.Carmack kept everyone dancing for the first half an hour of their set, before a few slowly filed out.

Djemba Djemaba and Mr.Carmacks set was nearing an end and so was my night. Leaving Brown Alley completely taken by everyones set especially by canadian producers Ryan Hemsworth and Kaytranada. The Operatives had showcased one hell of a party.
