On Thursday night Alison Wonderland transformed the Corner Hotel into a rockin’ party with her killer set and electric vibes. A while back, this multi-talented, classically trained musician traded her bass guitar for some decks and boy are we all glad she did! The evening kicked off with Willow Beats who drew in the crowd with ethereal vocals and electronic vibes. Back that up with some crowd-pleasing tracks from Tomderson and the scene was set. If the release of her debut single ‘ Get Ready ’ is anything to go by, we were in store for a crazy set full of hard hitting beats, catchy hooks and tunes to just flat out dance to.
Alison Wonderland’s greatest asset lies in her incomparable music selection. This is a girl who knows what the people want and each track was met with anticipation and wide-eyed excitement. She (adorably) danced her way through an assortment of hip hop tracks with the likes of Snoop Dog , Ludacris and Busta Rhymes , which threw us into Major Lazer ’s ‘ Watch Out For This ’. Unexpected and original mixing paired with her ever-developing skills as a producer gave Alison Wonderland the opportunity to sell out a show at The Corner. Her taste for dirty beats and trap music didn’t go unappreciated by the thirsty crowd who lost it to a bit of Flosstradamous , Diplo and TNGHT . They were indeed quenched with a combination of ‘Express Yourself’ and the bottle of vodka poured over the front row.
Gaining more and more recognition, Alison Wonderland is the gal to watch as her talents go much further then her ability behind the decks. Her adventurous nature, as her name suggests, comes out during these special live performances as well as her crazy enthusiasm and contagious energy. I think it’s safe to say she’s one of a kind and her ever-growing fan base is her reward for all the hard work she’s been doing.
