Swedish/Australian twins Elektra and Miranda Kilbey of Say Lou Lou dream up soulful pop music which is drenched in rich tones and swirling dream-wave choruses. Since the release of last year’s ‘ Maybe You’ , the duo have been working on a series of new releases, the latest of which, is ‘ Fool Of Me ‘ – a B-side collaboration with Melbourne’s Chet Faker .
‘Fool Of Me’ begins eerily, steering you down a pathway towards the first chorus where we’re met by soft, lullaby vocals. The slow-burner introduces the underlying chord progression which rides throughout the song and creates the momentum throughout. While I find the versus a tad bland, the song really opens up and blooms exceptionally in the choruses and it’s these moments that you hang in there for. Chet Fakers vocals create this melancholically too and fro-ing which add a really nice dimension and overall make the song. A sparkling bridge after the 3min mark halts the momentum and allows the song to drive home and explode. Male/female harmonies take it all home and it’s sure to resinate with people.
