Legendary producer Trentemøller has taken a step back from the ambient, rich, flowing soundscapes that won him a long list of accolades over the last decade to take a more ‘indie band’ approach to his new album Lost .
The list of collaborations on the album is impressive, featuring names like Kazu Makino ( Blonde Redhead ), Jana Hunter ( Lower Dens ), Marie Fisker , Ghost Society and Low . And it is these collaborations that help define the album as the next step in Trentemøller’s work – away from the experimental and into the realm of a band-driven sound (a sound recently honed on a Trentemøller live show that toured Europe with none other than Depeche Mode .)
The second single from the Album, ‘ Candy Tongue ’ is a haunting combination of eerie melodies and Marie Fisker’s vocals together in a layered crescendo. Its new ground for the Danish producer but in his own words, “people wanted something similar to the last album, but if you’re getting to the point of listening to people and what they think of your sound…Well, that’s not for me.”
