Stef Italia: Rainy Day Women have just finished some impressive summer festival spots. How was Southbound and Perth’s Big Day Out ?

Dylan Ollivierre: Yeah, awesome! It was such a different experience playing on a big stage. Both days we played pretty early on but had a great crowd, which was awesome.

SI: We’re looking forward to the EP. What should we expect from this collection of tunes?

DO: There are six little pop ditties on there and each of them kind of shows a different angle of the band that we want to explore more. There are some really fun moments and some introspective moments but generally its pretty sun-drenched and feel good.

SI: Friends was brought out just in time to make summer playlists and the clip’s concept is thoroughly enjoyable. Obviously most are partial to a fun makeover but why did you guys choose to go down that route?

DO: We just wanted to show that we don’t take ourselves super seriously. The jokes in the clip are completely on us. We were going for a bit of a Foo FightersLearn to Fly ’ kind of vibe. You get to see Ross [ pickersgill ] in a dress – that’s the best bit!

SI: And you’re about to head out on a national tour, which is very exciting. Are you looking forward to any performances in particular?

DO: We’ve never been to Brisbane, so looking forward to that one. It’ll be interesting to see what the turn out is like over east. It’s hard to gauge the band’s presence from the other side of the country.

SI: Is the group expecting things to get pretty wild on tour?

DO: I think it will in Melbourne because it’s the last show of the tour. We tend not to do things in halves so the rest of the tour will probably be well contained to ensure we put on a good show each night haha.

SI: Good luck with the tour and EP, we shall be following your progress throughout the year. Thanks for the chat Dylan!

DO: Thank you!
