I got to the Corner Hotel just in time to see the tropical and funky sounds of Panama capture and throw the building number of people into a mild dance off, slowly eradicating the awkward atmosphere that opening acts can sometimes create.
At the the start of this year the Sydney 5-peice celebrated our first birthday with us at The Workers Club. Since then their live show has accelerated in energy, and they comfortably play songs from their new EP It’s Not Over such as ‘ Heartbreak ‘, ‘Magic ‘ and ‘ It’s Not Over ‘. As well as older release , ‘Magic’, all in which created a vibrant atmosphere in the Corner Hotels band room.
The mixture of Panama’s energetic set and the crowds anticipation for Clubfeet held the vibrant atmosphere in the Band Room. As Clubfeet took to the stage with their sing-along pop backed by deep bass, layers of electro and synth, charismatic vocals, funky guitar and beat holding drums, everyone’s attention was taken ahold by the Melbourne 4-peice.
They played the majority of their recently released album Heirs & Graces , including ‘ Get Loose ‘ and ‘ Cape Town ‘, in the first half of their set, and Chela graced the stage with her flowing dance moves and warm vocals in ‘ Heartbreak ‘.
Playing a few songs from their debut album Gold on Gold , including ‘ Last Words ‘, it was the synth driven sing-along ‘ Everything You Wanted ‘ that received the biggest reception from the crowd, who sung and danced along. Clubfeet played an energetic and well curated set with pure passion and excitement from start till finish, with the crowd feeding off their every note.
