I almost featured White Caves earlier in the week after the release of ‘ Tide ‘, but I needed further proof that the track wasn’t a fluke. Enter the second track from the upcoming White Caves EP ‘ Bruise ‘.
Drawing from influences such as Spiritualized , Spaceman 3 and Ride . This solo project from Melbourne’s own Darren Cordeux contains a surprisingly expansive array of sounds, especially with the keyboard inclusion as the track progresses into the second half. Along with ‘Tide’, the only issue I have with both tracks is the recording quality, because from a structural stand point; the drumming is adequate, the guitars are catchy, his vocals are fitting and he’s able to gradually build both tracks without being overly reliant on the climaxes.
The EP comes out in late July and I’ll be sure to keep you updated. Check out White Caves on triple j unearthed for more.
