Pond have delivered a sucker-punch to the face with the release of their gritty and upfront new single ‘Xanman’ this morning. The Australian psychedelic rockers have severed it up alongside a bizarre videoclip which comes to us on the back of Giant Tortoise and in the lead-up to the bands fifth album ‘ Hobo Rocket’ , out August 2nd (through Modular).
In true Pond spirit, Xanman plays out like a chaotic live jam. An earthy bass line leads in to the track, creating a rich foundation for 70′s glamour-chords smashed out on guitars. An authentic Australian sound sound shines through on ‘Xanman’ that pays homage to the likes of the Skyhooks , mixed with the more tones of Led Zepplin and The Who. Crashing drums and wild cymbal patterns ride throughout creating a fantastic energy that’s sure to hit the mark in a festival setting.
