Liverpool pop-rockers The Wombats have today unleashed their first single since their 2011 album ’ The Wombats present… This Modern Glitch ‘. ‘ Your Body is a Weapon ‘ is an explosive indie pop song, mixing heavy rock drums and gritty guitars with silky melodies and hyper-colour synths.
‘Your Body is a Weapon’ follows a classic pop formula that ebbs and flows between calm versus, triumphant choruses and builds towards layered, power-pop instrumentals. The track furthers their signature sound which features the vocal quirks of frontman Matthew Murphy .
According to NME , the song was inspired about a paparazzi trying to take a picture of Harry Styles outside a party. According to Murphy,
“The song is loosely based on a ‘pap’ I witnessed outside a Brit awards after party, he was taking a picture of Conor Styles or whoever but looked thoroughly disinterested. It led me to feel slightly sorry for him…”
