It’s not that I’m targeting Sydney label Future Classic lately, it’s just that there is no denying that they’re on a hot streak. After announcing this week that they’re releasing Baio ‘s (from Vampire Weekend ‘s ) next solo EP, they also released a new 3 track EP by Sydney band Panama (who you might remember from headlining The Ripe’s 1st Birthday Party ) titled Always .
The EP doesn’t exactly define Panama ‘s niche sound just yet. The title track is a fairly clean attempt at a radio friendly song and ‘ How We Feel ‘ could be mistaken for a Toro Y Moi track, but the final track ‘ Destroyer ‘ is an intriguing sound to pursue down the road with its dreamy shoegaze melody floating along a thick post-punk bassline.
It’s also an interesting direction considering their page description says “ Hopeful house enthusiasts “. Unless they’re talking about the property market, they’ve come along way from house and have our attention.
