One of the down sides of releasing an album at the end of the year is that most websites are already busy writing end of year lists or on holidays if you’re in the southern hemisphere. That may explain why the Swedish duo Korallreven ’s 2011 album An Album By Korallreven went under the radar. It’s full of vibrant, thick, halcyon pop songs that formed an impressive debut album.
One distinct feature of Korallreven that separates them from most sugar rush dream pop is their leisurely pacing and the extended outros, especially in the closing track ‘ Comin’ Down ’. Their return track ‘ Try Anything Once ’, featuring Japanese artist Keigo Oyamada aka Cornelius , brings back everything that was initially drawing and maybe more. This time the production is tighter, cleaner and less drowned in meshing layers.
Regardless of the track’s title, I doubt you’ll only listen to this track once.
