Jagwar Ma – Come Save Me (Flight Facilities Graceland Remix)

It is very humbling to receive a Flight Facilities remix. In the past the duo have only remixed acts of big note such as Fleetwood Mac, Walter Murphy, Miike Snow, Paul Simon, Toecutter and Bag Raiders . It is obviously a big nod from the producers, tipping their hat to one of Australia’s most exciting new artists in Jagwar Ma .

The remix is not that far removed from their edits of old 80s tracks, sporting an upbeat, tropical drum track, funky bass line and even additional sound effects of monkeys and elephants. The vocals are still a prominent feature, which I really like in a remix, but what impresses me most is the subtle use of the hymn like backing vocals to seamlessly meld between Flight Facilities instrumental track and the lead vocals themselves.

Flight Facilities have given Paul Simon a nod as well, calling the remix the ‘Flight Facilities Graceland Remix’. Paying homage to the man that could well have inspired the sound of that identifiable bass melody that Flight Facilities use so well.
