Tame Impala have released a new video for one of the singles off the highly acclaimed Lonerism LP, released in 2012. The new video is for ‘ Mind Mischief ‘ and there is some intense physchadelic visuals akin to The Beatles ‘ Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds ‘. It is designed to make you trip balls.
I love the aesthetic here, desaturated tones as we watch a young school boy’s lust develop for his teacher. The boy enters into his teachers car, she feeds him a joint and as they begin to undress each other the car transcends into a cartoon world of morphing imagery, sexual innuendoes and drug references. At the end of the ‘trip’ we are left with the boy, in real life, sitting on the side of the road as the teacher and her car drive off into the distance. It is every schoolboy’s dream. I sure wish I had a teacher like her when I was growing up.
