Irish indie-rock outfit Two Door Cinema Club have delivered their promise to explore new territory on their forthcoming EP. Today we get the first taste of their new music through ‘Changing of the Seasons’ - a one-off collaboration featuring the production work of Madeon .
While on a massive string of dates over the last couple months the lads revealed that they had “ brought in a friend, someone who brings a very unique sonic quality ”. That friend is evidently French, 19 year old dance music protégée Madeon.
The track sticks to the classic plucky guitar driven sounds familiar to Two Door but adds a new element of dance bravado in the heavily layered synth waves and grooving basslines typical to Madeon’s work. The track really is a nice combination of the two acts’ sounds to create a nice tidy piece of indie pop.
While ‘Two Door’ are no strangers to having the shit remixed out of their songs (names like RAC , Robert DeLong , Fred Falke , Gigamesh and Alex Metric have all done the rounds), its interesting to hear that ‘ Changing of the Seasons’ actually originated during the writing of their last album, ‘ Beacons ’ only to evolve into the dance number it is now. If you cant beat them, join them?
