Brisbane four piece The Jungle Giants, after the few short years the band has been together, have had success some bands only imagine. They’ve released two hugely successful EPs ( The Jungle Giants and She’s A Riot ), had songs like ‘ She’s A Riot ‘ come in at number 83 in the triple j hottest 100 of 2011, and have toured with the likes of Boy and Bear , The Last Dinosaurs , Ball Park Music and San Cisco . The band is also a bit of a festival favourite as well, having appeared at Falls and Splendour over the past year. Now it’s only a few short weeks from the release of their debut album Learn to Exist and they have dropped a new video for latest single, ‘ Skin To Bone ‘.
This track brings back memories of the sunny Splendour set these guys delivered to a packed main tent. The song was introduced by lead singer Sam to the Splendour crowd, as one about the more intimate side of life, aka “It’s a song about fucking.” With the catchy hooks, high pitched jangely guitar riffs from lead guitarist Cesira, and Sam Hales signature wide vocal range, it delivers more of what we have heard from these guys before but with more of a solidarity to the songs construction. It’s certainly a fun one that shows the band just might meet and beat the bar they set for themselves with their two previously successful EPs. I reckon this release will be the perfect summer pump-up album.
The Jungle Giants are touring nationally through October, with tickets on sale from August 16th. Learn to Exist is released August 30th.
