Over the past three months Australia’s electronic music scene has been swept in to a lustrous love-affair with Sydney brothers Cosmos Midnight and their close musical mate Wave Racer. Both acts have been touring hard, releasing a tonne of new music and accumulating a cult following of fans the world over. Their unique flavours of hyper-colour electronica and eclectic beat based production has received huge support from the likes of triple j, BBC1 and copped recognition from XXYYXX, Cashmere Cat and Flume, cementing them as heavy-weights in their own right.
Having both co-headlined THE RIPE’s ‘Bloom I’ event last month and Cosmo’s Midnight’s recent Ripe Guest Mix , it seems fitting that they’ve hooked us up with the world premiere of the highly anticipated Wave Racer remix of Cosmo’s midnight’s track ‘ The Dofflin ‘ ( stream above ).
On this track, the emerging Aussie production dream-team combine with the hip-hop elements of the original clashing with Wave Racer’s signature fluro tones. Swirling pads create a vortex that spiral stabbing vocal samples to evoke a chaotic sense of energy. Beats shift at high tempo, changing up between snares, claps and kicks to add fuel to the cascading sense of controlled disorder. This one is only going to propel both these acts further
