A ustralian born, London based singer George Maple (featured on Flume ‘s track ’ Bring You Down ‘) has just debuted a new track via Annie Mac ‘s BBC show in the UK. The busy Aussie has been working on a bunch of new stuff recently including tracks with the likes of Bondax , Snakehips and Shadow Child .
Her latest offering is ‘ OPST ‘, a warm breezy track in style with her trademark flavour of electronica. Her smooth vocals tremble emotionally over the top of gritty record scratches, clicks and slapping claps which create just the right amount of energy on top of sleepy piano chords. George lets her inner diva out in the later parts of the song, allowing her voice to soar in to a mature range and a dominating force. This quickly glides to fizzling halt (far too early), but certainly leaves you with a feeling of promise.
All up, there are no real ‘moments’ that grab you and demand your attention in OPST, but I feel Ms Maple hasn’t set out to to achieve something obnoxious.
