Undoubtably two of the biggest influences in the electronic music scene have collided on Flume ‘s new remix of Disclosure .
The dramatic rework of ‘ You & Me’, taken from Disclosure’s debut album ‘ settle ‘, has been overhauled in to a world of surreality and self-dubbed ‘OrchestralCrunk’. Shaped around shrieking orchestrals, sweeping strings and punchy brass, the cinematic instrumental forms an emotive backdrop to Eliza Doolittle ‘s edited vocals.
Doolittle’s voice has been strengthened by this track and you can’t help but feel it allows her vocals to be sung with more passion and dynamism than the original. It brings out her ‘diva quality’ and old-school RnB glamour.
A real highlight is the drum beat which contracts between expansive flares and compressive slaps. In Flume spirit, everything seems exaggerated, colourful and layered with absolute precision.
