There’s not a whole lot of info online about Alina Baraz or her Danish producer Galimatias - but if “ first impressions count the most “, ‘ Drift ‘ ensures we’ll be finding out a lot more about her in the near-future.
‘Drift’ is a soulful hip hop track filled with warm piano, strings and relaxing beats. Above the instrumental is the mind-blowing vocal performance from Alina. There’s a bit Lorde swagger in the way her voice oozes attitude and an effortless sense of cool. Casual piano runs develop a cruisy momentum underneath synths and down tempo electronica. Post-dubstep quirks in the instrumental build as the song progresses, creating a surreal atmosphere.
