A synth track with some bite, Young Galaxy ‘s latest release, ‘ New Summer ‘ grips you in the first few moments with its out of key blasts and continues to hold your attention with dynamic vocals. Catherine McCandless ‘ vocals are remarkable and lend this track depth that is sometimes lacking in the synth genre. Not one for wasting our time, I am thrown into a state of unequivocal happiness. A nostalgic reflection on being young and falling in love, this latest track, is an indication of what is to come from their new album, Ultramarine which is set for release in a month.
This song reminds me of something Beach House would produce yet in comparison they’ve had their hit of Berocca. Thus, making it more enlivened rather than the synth indie fashion of trying to sound as unenthused as possible.
I relish the chance to listen to a singer with presence. It’s very refreshing.
