VYDAMO – Gonna Make It

VYDAMO – Gonna Make It

There is nothing wrong with an unashamed, all out euphoric, sing-along number. Vydamo certainly knew this when they released their debut single ‘ Gonna Make It ’.

I should mention that Vydamo is the solo side project of Jim Finn from Art vs. Science , but don’t let form any pre-conceived ideas of what you may hear.

Straight from the get-go Finn’s ability on the keys is obvious. Layers of pop piano hooks bounce along, creating an instantly feel good sound. The song seems to fill out and come together almost way too naturally. Each verse flows into its bridge, then onto the chorus, leading up to a vocally driven climax that will stick in your head for much longer than you care to admit. Personally, I’ve enjoyed every minute of it.

The song is said to be ode to the Sydney all-night party scene, but it’s clear the talented Vydamo has taken some time off from partying, as apparently he plays just about every instrument on the track.

Vydamo’s debut album is due out some time in 2013. If he keeps getting as much local radio love, no doubt it’ll be a well-played release. For now I’m pretty happy with just listening to ‘Gonna Make It’ on repeat.
