Self-proclaimed ‘indie folksters’ The Trouble With Templeton have delivered the goods once again with ‘ Like A Kid .’
The opening (and closing) guitar riff is reminiscent of an old-school video game – Tetris perhaps, or maybe even Super Mario. As for the weird noise – well, who knows, really. It’s a little bit scary, come to think of it.
The track is definitely a far cry from the bands previous releases. It has a much fuller sound. Not so “folky love song.” Thomas Calde r ’s distinguishable vocals still shine through.
When Calder sings “you’re looking like a faucet leaking,” – it all becomes quite intense. He holds the note for ages and that growl is gripping. I guess the word “tap” didn’t quite have the same ring to it.
It’s one to listen to at an incredibly loud volume.
