Hardly half way through the year and RÜF ÜS has already managed to fit a massive amount of action into 2013. The guys have had a prolific impact on the music scene for the relatively short time they’ve been together, including playing sold out parties in New York for an impressive crowd featuring LCD Soundsystem , Holy Ghost ! and RAC . Luckily, amongst hit releases and national tours, the guys have had some time to put together a selection of their favourite tunes for this weeks Ripe Guest Mix .
Set to release their debut album Atlas in the coming months, Rufus whet our appetites with the latest release ‘ Take Me ’ . The runaway success of the pop-techno anthem saw the lads getting plenty of love on triple j and blogs around the world as well as embarking on a national tour.
Hitting up a massive 14 dates over about a month, the recently wrapped up Take Me tour saw Rufus play at some of the country’s best venues including sold-out shows at the Oxford Art Factory and Ding Dong Lounge . But despite this hectic schedule, the band assures us they have just finished a “sneaky last track” for the album, so more good things are sure to be on their way.
The Ripe Guest Mix with Rufus is a deep, grooving journey into the influences and interests of the Sydney based three-piece. Plenty of bass-full rhythms come through from names like Bonobo and Cassian , as well as first listens to new-unreleased tracks from Softwar and Lancelot and the new one from The Ripe homies Indian Summer .
