So M83 are doing the soundtrack for an upcoming Tom Cruise sci-fi film called ‘Oblivion ‘. UMM GENIUS. It’s a match made in heaven. Or whatever the Scientology version of heaven is – planet Kolog? The second and title track has been released today and it features Norwegian songtress Susanne Sundfør whose soaring vocals create a tremulous and epic cinematic collaboration. The song is clearly meant for a film; it goes for nearly six minutes and is full of dramatic shifts in tempo and sound. It’s not the M83 we know and love but we’ll take it for now. The film is out 19 April and the soundtrack is out 9 April. Get your nerd on!
