The day that releases new music is always a top day, and yesterday was one of them. For those who haven’t heard of Kishi Bashi, his actual name is K Ishibashi , he’s a Japanese violin player, singer, composer and general amazing talented musician. When not making music under his Kishi Bashi persona, he sings NYC synth rock band Jupiter One , and has toured with Regina Spektor, and Georgian indie pop band Montreal . He released his album 151a early last year and it was an absolute delight for the ears.
Building on the success of this last release, Kishi Bashi just released a double dose of new music goodness with the double side singles ’ Philosophize In It! Chemicalize With It! ‘ and ‘ Song For The Sold .’
These two tracks are both up the same alley, mega packages of up lifting, heavily looped instrumentals that feature the wondrous harmonic possibilities of the violin. Although the indie type vocals carry more of a melodic purpose than the actual portrayal of their meaning, they work their way into the weave of sound textures, and blend perfectly along side the glitchy Japanese effects that infiltrate the songs.
Kishi Bashi, these track are out of the ball park.
