James Blake has released yet another track, however this one will not be appearing on his upcoming LP. The track is called ‘ And Holy Ghost’ , which is a cheeky little b-sider from the ‘ Voyeur Dub ‘ single. This track is a bit more of a soundscape than a melodic future garage track which we have come to expect from Blake and it is easy to see why it didn’t make the new record.
It is a very ominous collection of sounds, with buzzing synths, intermittent drum hits and a strange vocal sample injected randomly through the song. There is definitely an audience for this kind of production but unfortunately for me it doesn’t hit the mark. I am however a product of a pop generation, I yearn for the hook.
James Blake’s new album Overgrown comes out on April 8th and judging by releases such as ‘ Retrograde ‘, ‘ Voyeur Dub ‘ and ‘ Digital Lion ‘, we are in for a treat.
