Chet Faker jets off on a European tour today, and as he does close friends Rat & Co (Founding member Joshua Delaney being the bassist of Chet Faker) are joining him on the journey.
In celebration of the announcement Rat & Co. have released this preview track, a teaser for what is to come. I am sitting here pulling my hair out in anticipation for the full version. Coming in at one minute and 47 seconds is the preview of Rat & Co’s remix of Chet Faker’s cover of Blackstreet ‘s ‘ No Diggity ‘. The rework has found itself on constant repeat on my playlist this morning, not being long enough to fully satisfy my Rat & Co/Chet Faker needs.
Rat & Co. have always been known for their haunting soundscapes and this new release is no different. Low-fi ambient beats pair with reverb drenched synths to play the new backdrop for Chet Faker’s vocals. The new setting for the soulful melody transforms the original into something a little more eerie. It is nice to hear a fresh take on ‘No Diggity’; a song that has been covered by many but only re-invented by some.
