In a dramatic twist, Wu-Tang Clans ‘s RZA has decided to remix alt-J ‘ s highly successful single ‘ Breezeblocks ‘ .
What we have here is something difficult to wrap your head around. It almost sounds like an incomplete sample before the producers added in ALL THE INSTRUMENTS. In what’s being widely described online as ‘ the weirdest thing heard all week ‘ the original is completely stripped back with only a disorded drum kit remaining. The track as a whole comes off as very bare and minimal and looses that atmospheric darkness that is so key to the original track.
But in all fairness it’s not bad. The more you listen to it, the more you will be able to appreciate the complicated percussion, that gives off a reggae inspired sound that’s quite refreshing. The barenss of the track gives it a new meaning and subtle emotion that is actually very clever. A strange reworking of a brilliant song that works in a distorted way. Dope
